SPO Student Programming Office

We Serve All Student Organizations!
The Student Programming Office(SPO) offers all campus organizations assistance in event planning, program advising, and maintains a master student events calendar.

Program Advising
From concept to completion, we can help answer questions like, "What is the goal of the program?" "Who is the desired audience? (i.e. who would you like to reach?)" and "What would you like to accomplish by having this program?" Once the basics of your program have been ironed out, we can help you plan your event!

Event Registration and Planning
Any student social event with attendance over 50 guests, whether open to the public or private, MUST BE REGISTERED with the Student Programming Office of the Memorial Union. Once your organization has its program goal in mind, we can help you with the fine details of your event. We can help you plan and maintain a budget, decide on a location, select catering, and get audio-visual equipment. We will even help you with publicity for your event. And most importantly, our staff will do our best to assist you with delegating tasks and planning for accountability!

MEET THE TEAM Emma Montague Graduate Assistant Master of Science in College Student Personnel, 2013 T: 401-874-2220 F: 401-874-5317 E: emma_montague@my.uri.edu Bio Emma is the Graduate Assistant for Student Involvement. Emma; overseas the Student Programming Office, manages the Box Office and works with the Student Entertainment Committee. Emma brings an international flavor to our team as she’s joining us all the way from the United Kingdom. As well as working in the Memorial Union, Emma will be studying College Student Personnel, hoping to continue work in the Higher Education sector after Graduation in 2013. Emma prides herself on her open door policy so please feel free to drop by! Office Hours: Monday 10am-3pm | Wednesday 10am-3pm | Thursday 10am-3pm

Jessica Perreault SPO Employee Major: Marketing and French Email: jperreault@my.uri.edu Bio: Jess is a sophomore at URI, studying Marketing and French. Along with her Student Programming internship role, Jess is the business manager for the Student Entertainment Committee and a URI 101 mentor. Last year, she was also vice president of the concerts committee for the Student Entertainment Committee. She is a native Rhode Islander and works as a lifeguard in the summer at First Beach in Newport. She hopes to pursue marketing and international relations professionally in the future. Jess plans to graduate from URI in the spring of 2014.

Denise Ogbemudia-Pratt SPO Employee Major: Medical Lab Science Major and Psychology Minor Bio: My name is Denise Ogbemudia-Pratt. I am a medical lab science major and a psychology minor. I am the head PR for  Uhuru Sasa and I am also a member of P.I.N.K and CVSA. I am very determined when it comes to my education or things I desire. I plan on helping and leaving footprints in every persons life a meet one step at a time.

Sarah Moffitt SPO Employee Major: Political Science and Health Studies and International Relations minor Bio: Sarah Moffitt is a Sophomore majoring in Political Science and Health Studies with a minor in International Relations. Although a native Rhode Islander, she just finished a year in AmeriCorps NCCC, traveling around the country working in various areas of community service. She has been involved in URI Peer Mentoring and Student Senate. In addition to SPO, she works at the information desk in the Memorial Union and as a ski and snowboard instructor at Yawgoo Valley.

Jacqueline Atkins SPO Employee Major: Public Relations and Communication Studies and Leadership minor Bio: Hi everyone.  I'm Jacqueline Atkins, a junior with double majors in Public Relations and Communication Studies and a minor in Leadership.I really like to keep busy. I am currently a sister of Sigma Kappa,and involved in WOWW and SOLC.  In my spare time I love facilitating high and low ropes courses at the North Woods Challenge Course.  I just got back from a semester abroad in Australia, where I got to spend my weekends sky diving, scuba diving and playing with kangaroos.  I hope when I graduate in a year to work for a travel PR company that focuses on tourism in NYC and Australia.  I look forward to working with you!

Event Calendar The Student Programming Office is home to the calendar of campus events from the Student Alumni Association, Greek Life, Athletics, Multicultural Center, and much more. This calendar helps you to see what is happening on campus and to choose the best possible day for your event. All events are welcome to be listed on the calendar, but hurry because dates are filling quickly!
