Leadership Institute

Get a Head Start on Your Leadership @ URI!!

The First-Year Student Leadership Institute is designed for students who have demonstrated leadership potential in high school, with the hope that these students will become active members of the URI community.This three-day leadership development program will be held at URI’s beautiful Alton Jones Campus Labor Day Weekend, Friday, August 31 - Sunday, September 2, 2012

During the Leadership Institute, students will develop leadership skills by participating in an outdoor adventure program and by engaging in leadership development experiences. Students will learn about communication, trust, interpersonal relationships, and personal risk-taking as they participate in a series of games and problem-solving initiatives. In addition, students will work together as they examine issues of multiculturalism, inclusion, civic and community participation. Learn about Involvement and leadership opportunities available at URI from some of URI's outstanding peer student leaders, faculty members, and administrators.

The cost for the program is $130; limited scholarships and financial aid are available.

Applications for the 2012 Leadership Institute are now available! Applications are due Friday, July 6, 2012.

Students will be notified of their status by early August.
